Women who are in an abusive relationship
The risk of a woman becoming a victim of abuse is directly connected to her difficult economic situation, which unfortunately results in her complete dependence on family members to ensure survival. The sense of dependence, both psychologically and practically, gradually weakens her, making her unable to stand on her own feet. Additionally, it creates intense insecurity and fear for the future. A socially disempowered woman, due to the lack of professional activity and prolonged stay within the family framework, combined with her vulnerable psychological state, unfortunately faces a greater risk of exposure to various forms of violence. Moreover, the recent pandemic period can serve as an unpleasant testament to the above correlation, as increased reports of abuse incidents during quarantine sounded the alarm. Home confinement, closure of stores/businesses due to quarantine enforcement, and even remote work significantly reduced job opportunities (for the general population and therefore for women) and participation in social activities, while simultaneously increasing hours spent at home and economic hardship.
Driven by the equation of “weakened economic status plus reduced social autonomy = an increased risk of exposure to abusive behavior due to dependence”, the Action of immediate and drastic mobilization, "No Woman Alone," has been unofficially underway since 2017 and officially and more organized as of February 14, 2022. The action boasts professionals in its team, including social workers, psychologists, legal consultants/lawyers, and speakers/mentors. Due to the work of these individuals, as well as through collaboration with organizations providing additional support regarding housing and education for women, the action "No Woman Alone" accomplishes commendable work in providing comprehensive support to women who have survived violence.
The approach of the #NoWomanAlone action for the complete elimination of forms of gender-based violence and abuse has, as its guiding principle, the radical change in the life of the survivor. The complete empowerment of the survivor and the encouragement of her autonomy as an equal and integral member of society are achieved through the psychological/legal support provided by the action, as well as through thorough preparation for the future, including:
-
Continuous education and training,
-
Financial support for women entrepreneurs,
-
Counseling actions and proposals, guidance, and encouragement from ambassadors who have excelled in support and mentoring,
-
Personalized assistance in highlighting their skills,
-
Support through the "For Me" program, through which women can collaborate by promoting handmade products following a common marketing strategy,
-
Job placement based on individual interests.
With the aim of finding resources, the action offers for sale creations that reflect and support its purpose.
The action "No Woman Alone" has helped many women so far to escape from a violent environment and a violent partner. It has provided temporary shelter with complete anonymity and psychological and medical support and care.
